A Hawk as Big as a Horse

Lydia, a 48-year-old queer individual, is a highly respected ornithologist. She resides in the town of Shcherbinka, on the outskirts of Moscow, together with her wife Vasilisa. Lydia works for a company dedicated to preventing bird strikes in airports, while Vasilisa trains horses for the police department.

In their cozy wooden house, which Lydia single-handedly built, she endeavors to recreate the captivating ambiance of Twin Peaks, the renowned David Lynch series that has consumed her thoughts. Through this endeavor, she strives to craft her own version and seek refuge from the confines of reality.

However, Sasha Kulak, the director of the film, poses a thought-provoking question to Lydia that challenges her perception of documentary filmmaking: How does one distill reality from the realm of dreams? Sasha's narrative voice captivates us, gradually transforming her into a character in this exceptional cinematic experience.
