Synopsis

Michal Spišák made four documentaries about three amateur Roma visual artists and a professional painter, all of whom found a certain life fulfillment in creating art. Even Erika made her desires, dreams and goals come true thanks to her hidden potential, talent, courage and hard work. The documentary style of filmmaking enabled to capture the real and true responses of the characters. These films compose the film cycle "Romas - a point of view". The whole cycle of short audiovisual documentaries presents a different point of view on the Roma community. It tries to show a way of coexistence and mutual help through everyday life, work and individual stories of talented Romas (artists, singers, wood-carvers, sculptors, blacksmiths and many others). It shows how they can contribute to the society with their work in the conditions of both Roma and non-Roma environments. The result of the cycle is supposed to be inspiration and motivation for the Roma community in their social, personal and professional life. On the other hand it will bring missing information, a different point of view and let's hope that also understanding of the non-Roma comunity, which is the first step towards creation of an integrated society. It builds a communication bridge between all people willing to learn more about those around them. Everybody should look for solutions and help for those who need it as well as try to break the barriers and prejudices between the Roma and non-Roma communities.
