Synopsis
In Međimurje, a small Croatian region shaped by tensions between the Croatians and Roma, the arrival of Nepalese workers is a catalyst for bringing back unresolved conflicts.
We follow three Croatian grandmothers all named Ana, three Roma football players and three Nepalese workers in the food industry who almost literally feed everyone else. The exploration of collective identity reveals the cycle of discrimination repeating: those once seen as victims, like the Roma community, now discriminate the Nepalese.
Breaking the cycle, it’s not only an observation, but intervention: we bring otherwise completely segregated groups together. With light approach to serious issues the film breaks the fourth wall with humour, creating empathy while initiating a much needed dialogue.
