Smog Wars

Directing: Jonathan Ramsey

Synopsis

Every year air pollution is responsible for an estimated 50,000 premature deaths in Poland. On January 9, 2017, air quality in the capital Warsaw measured worse than any major city in the world, sparking a national conversation focused on eliminating smog.
Following the smoggy winter of 2016/2017, MichaƂ Konopa, a Warsaw father of an asthmatic child, engages his American colleague Jonathan in making a film about the complex world of Polish smog, documenting the "burning season" of winter 2017/2018.
Featuring interviews with people from across all levels of Polish society, Smog Wars shows a city where awareness about air pollution is changing rapidly. But solving the problem is easier said that done.
