Synopsis

There are seven rooms, too few readers and too many employees in the municipal library in Zugdidi - a city in westernmost part of Georgia, lively on surface of yet forlorn in a range of ways. Most of the things in this library are contradictory: renovated reading room with no readers, books on the shelves are abandoned and rotting, registration, the first room every reader needs - closed. Twenty five women and not a single man work in a small library building for over twenty years and none of them wants to quit the job. Daily they get along with fights, little events, sometimes drink and struggle with computers. They are never tired of setting little traps for newer employees. Library is a painted façade, a forced function with fake movement or a structure without actors. Library: a modernized "collective" with no connection with this role, no necessity to its existence. The micro-cosmos of the library is a shelter and beneath lays loneliness of people left behind by transformation.
