Synopsis

The film illustrates the confiscation of the land in Czechoslovakia in the 1950s on the case of František Brož and his sister. The style of the documentary resembles a road movie of a sort, as we watch an involuntary life journey of Mr. Brož and his family from the east of Bohemia to northern Moravia; hence the title of the documentary - not only does it denote a popular children’s game, but it also symbolizes the reckless manipulation with people, when whole families could be deported from their homes. The documentary also attempts to illustrate the current state of agriculture in the Czech Republic. Restitution of property was not always successful; collective farms became joint-stock companies which repeatedly changed their names in order to avoid paying any financial compensation. Mr. Lemberk, who now rents the returned fields and woods from František Brož, is willing to openly talk about the problem. The past thus directly influences the present - a living legacy of the 1950s.
