Synopsis
Cyril and Methodius - The Apostles of the Slavs is a four-part historical docu-drama focused on apostles’ life and heritage. The story from the 9th century in stunning scenes depicts the beginnings of the spread of Christianity in Great Moravia and nearby lands. During their missionary efforts, the brothers not only face the pagan religion still very deeply rooted in the society (pagan gods and demons, common law, fortune-telling and witchcraft), but also find themselves amidst the fight for the introduction of the Slavic liturgy, so non traditional in the region that it incites resentment among the Latin priests and strong resistance of the mighty East Frankish Kingdom.
