In a scattered mountain village in the Balkans, 87-year old Vida lives according to the dictates of weather. In her dreams and sleepless nights, Vida recalls memories of her youth. She is still very vital, taking care of her countryside household with its various animals. Her closest friend is her cow, a soon to be mother of a baby calf. Every day on her way to the pastures, Vida passes by her husband's gravestone where her own name is also engraved, lacking only the specific date of her death. Vida's daily behaviour and routine changes when a neighbour foretells her future, announcing the upcoming arrival of an extraordinary guest.
Meanwhile, in the same village, young Slavoljub is experiencing an overwhelmingly strong attraction to his school friend Vladana.
