Synopsis

Considering time as its main character, the film takes the workings of time on texture as a basis for contemplation. The relief of one of Brussel’s most emblematic buildings is observed as closely as the chalk cliffs of Étretat, Normandie. Diving into a family’s archive as much as observing an artist work allows for questioning the different ways of how humans long to record and preserve memories. The choice of shooting in 16mm was born from the belief and direct comparison of both digital and analogue footage that resulted in the re-assumption of analogue footage as being more truthful to the villa’s character and aesthetics; above all, it provided a possibility of simultaneously recording the action of recording an action.
