Synopsis
Portrait of a legendary peasant leader and famous Trotskyist “guerrilla fighter” who preferred to encourage self- government and to become an anonymous.
The film confronts the idealized archetype of the sixties, a young black-bearded man with raised fist shouting "Land or Death!": Hugo Blanco, with the anonymous social fighter nowadays: 'Hugo Indio'.
The author meets the white-bearded and tireless Hugo Blanco, her father’s revolutionary hero, in the aftermath of the Peruvian Internal War, where rivers of Indian blood have been the price of a generation’s dream that turned into a nightmare: the dream of the armed revolution. Starting with a journey to the forgotten jungle village where Blanco’s fight and fame began, the author follows the traces of the past facts and ideals in the present.
