Synopsis
The music documentary recalls the personal and professional course of Mahler's life career, his deep inner connection to the Czech-Moravian Highlands and the town of Jihlava. On the background of the seventeen years of his travels across Europe in the function of conductor and opera director, the film returns to the sources of inspiration for his work, to the times of his childhood and youth spent in Czechia and Moravia (20 years). Performed by the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Václav Neumann, the music excerpts recall the following quotes of Mahler: "Many of my compositions absorbed the Czech music of my childhood. Basic features of the national tone they carry can also be heard in the fiddling of Czech musicians."
