If Not You

“If Not You” reveals the extraordinary relationship between two 25-year-old roommates, Andrius and Tomas, who live in a youth boarding school for the mentally handicapped in Kaunas. Andrius is a strong, handsome fellow, a real girls’ favorite who enjoys organizing public activities. He teaches Tomas about life and takes care of him. Tomas is the opposite: physically disabled, wheelchair-bound, not so attractive, less self-confident. Nevertheless, both roommates complement one another, and there is a strong interrelationship between the two. Meanwhile, a girl who lives in the same boarding school sparks up a kind of rivalry between the friends, and provokes a test of their long-term friendship. A creative observational documentary challenging common perceptions on disability, humanity, and emotions.
