Synopsis
Series of 13 creative documentaries mapping the themes that characterize aesthetical and ideological diversity of the Czech photography (mainly in 20th century). It does not aspire to be an all-embracing encyclopedia of photography, rather trying to bring what has not been a subject of any television program about the photography. It should be accepted as an artistic discipline or a way of understanding the world. It does not aim to extract the topic of Czech photographs completely, which would be impossible – it offers personal, intimate look of important documentarists on selected topics. The key questions of the series are: How is the decision “to take a picture” created? How to make an artistic or significant piece of art from a simple record of moment made by widely available device? What is the photography (un)able to express about the life of individuals and society? How does the photography affect us – the viewers? Each episode offers unique perspective on the subject of photography, different film language, storytelling, image and ambiance. 13 x 26'
