Synopsis
The study of medicine in the Czech Republic is usually based on memorising a huge amount of information. However, the Second Faculty of Medicine at Charles University is introducing new teaching methods based on a more practical approach to education. This observational film follows young students during non-traditional forms of teaching. For example, these include simulating the examination of a child in the emergency room, playing out a scene of communicating a serious diagnosis to a patient, and practical assistance in anaesthesiology. This demonstrates how personal experience and real-life exposure to challenging situations contributes to better preparedness for this demanding profession.“I have to say that it's a style of teaching that we haven't had the chance to encounter before and the experience is absolutely irreplaceable.”
