Our Curse

The film is a personal statement of the director and his wife, who have to deal with an incurable disease of their newborn son – the Ondine’s Curse (CCHS). People affected with this disease require lifetime mechanical ventilation on a ventilator. The film shows the first few months after the diagnosis. At the beginning, the child is still in hospital, but soon he comes home, with all his medical equipment. The parents are left alone to cope with all the medical issues associated with the disease, and with the constant fear for their son. The film shows the process of taming the fear and gradually adopting to the new situation. Parents perception of the child changes. An alien creature with lots of noisy equipment becomes their much loved son, without whom they could not function anymore.
