Common Tern

Pták Rybák

Directing: Kryštof Zvolánek

Synopsis

In Kryštof Zvolánek's lyrically tuned film shot on a 16mm camera, gentlemen in boots are building sandy islands and trying to create suitable living conditions for Common Tern. Man's demands for water and increasing drought, caused by global climate change, have led to a long-term conflict of interest in the size of the water column in Nové Mlýny reservoirs. Water managers and conservationists are trying to find a compromise to change the water level so that it is beneficial for humans and biodiversity. But these little dramas in the life of a tern bird are, in a broader sense, a struggle for the future shape of our nature.
