America Is Not Ready For This

Directing: Karol Radziszewski

Synopsis

34 years after Polish artist Natalia LL's stay in New York, young artist Karol Radziszewski embarks on a journey in her footsteps. He meets with artists Marina Abramovic, Vito Acconci, AA Bronson, Carolee Schneemann, the gallery owner Antonio Homem, critic Douglas Crimp and Andy Warhol's Superstar - Mario Montez, who recall the atmosphere of NYC in the 1970s, providing a picture of what Natalia LL was confronted with. Radziszewski revives Natalia LL's memories and raises questions on subjects of gender, queer, feminist and conceptual art, and East-West relation's impact on the art from behind the Iron Curtain. The film searches for parallels between artistic experiences and attempts to examine the rules of the artist’s position in the art world in 70s and today.
