In 2007, in order to facilitate their own production of documentary films, Saša Dlouhý and Markéta Dlouhá Márová decided to establish freeSaM. After an initial focus on nature, especially underwater life, their scope widened – with the films A Summer in Shanghai and Trafačka: Temple of Freedom – to include cultural and social issues as well. Part of the pursuits of their company is taken up by exhibition and gallery activities.
