About the Company

Virafilms is a film production project initiated in Bucharest, Romania by three members of the Vira Association (Bogdan Pălici, Matei Budeş, Natalia Negru) with the aim of supporting independent, creative documentary films that have a very personal point of view, often focusing on cultural or social issues that are both locally and universally important. Among the projects supported by Virafilms are: “Măruntele / Counting tiny little steps”, 2009 screened in festivals such as NAFA 2009 Koper (http://nafa2009.eu), Regard Bleu #5 Zurich (http://regardbleu.ch), International Festival of Ethnological Film, Belgrade (http://etnografskimuzej.rs), Days of Ethnographic Cinema, Moscow, September 2009; “Recovering pieces of history”, 2010 screened at ECF's talk show (IDFA 2010); “Anxiety lessons” (in production), an observational documentary directed by Bogdan Pălici and Matei Budeş.
