Makabor Studio Ltd.

Founded by Kata Oláh, award-winning director–producer and founding board member of MADOKE – the Hungarian Documentary Association, and Sándor Csukás, acclaimed cinematographer and head of the Cinematography Department at Budapest Metropolitan University, Makabor Studio is a Budapest-based production company dedicated to creative, character-driven documentary filmmaking. Initially producing television projects, the studio soon shifted its focus toward visually distinctive, emotionally powerful stories that challenge preconceptions and explore human resilience, empathy, and identity. Makabor’s films have aired on major Hungarian broadcasters and HBO, with three documentaries released theatrically in Hungary and two selected for KineDok Europe. Its works have earned multiple national awards, several Hungarian Film Academy nominations, and international recognition including the FIPRESCI Prize, and have been presented at Hot Docs, DOK Leipzig, DocsBarcelona, Agora Thessaloniki, When East Meets West, Crossing Borders, and the Sarajevo Rough Cut Boutique.
