Ljubljana Gay and Lesbian Film Festival

The Ljubljana LGBT Film Festival is one of the oldest in Europe. Its emergence is strongly connected with the rise of the gay movement which took place in Ljubljana, Slovenia, in 1984, still within the former Yugoslavia. The Magnus gay cultural festival between 1984 and 1986 introduced many lesbian and gay films from different European countries, such as Germany, Hungary and the UK. Later on, the Magnus festival was over, but the activities to keep the film festival running never stopped.
