Balkan Investigative Reporting Network

The Balkan Investigative Reporting Network (BIRN) stands out as the leading regional investigative reporting organization in the Balkans and is a trusted and well-respected regional civil society actor. It specializes in developing and implementing investigative and analytical reporting projects, theoretical and practical training of local journalists, and capacity-building of local and regional media. BIRN Kosovo in particular specialises in organizing current affairs debates that have pushed public reforms and contributed in elevated levels of accountability among elected and appointed officials towards the public in the postwar Kosovo. BIRN Kosovo has produced over 300 televised debates which have been watched by 350,000 people in Kosovo each. Locally, BIRN cooperates with a number of NGOs and five local TV stations to accomplish its projects and enjoys well-established reputation and credibility among the public.
