Cinemascope

Cinemascope has been launched by two film buffs in 2009 as a monthly screening project. Since May 2012 a regular cinema venue of the same name has been opened on the basis of the old repertory theater Raketa in downtown Minsk. It has a capacity of 45 seats and set aside exclusively for art film screenings and events. Since November 2013 the second cinema venue (250 seats) has been renovated and equipped with 2K digital projector. At the moment Raketa is the only cinema in Minsk (capital of Belarus) focused on art films. Our mission is to promote art films and have them seen by new viewers who would not otherwise have access to them. We organize and conduct programming, courses and thematic exhibitions of various genders (film noir, documentaries dedicated to specific areas, authors’ retrospectives, silent film & live music sessions). In order to guarantee an interesting, attractive and alternative programme and to run premieres, we also distributes films ourselves (under the Cinemascope label).
