Holland Animation Film Festival

Holland Animation Film Festival (HAFF) in the old centre of Utrecht is an international festival for animated film, founded in 1985 and since 2009 an annual event. The festival provides a national and international platform for animation. It is a national and international meeting place and source of inspiration for animation professionals and rising talent and it promotes animated film as an attractive cultural leisure pursuit to all possible target groups. An important part of the festival is formed by the international competition for feature-length animation films, competition for shorts (in the categories narrative and non-narrative), competition for student films (open for all films produced at art and film academies, or comparable studies. Herewith the competition for European student films gets a worthy successor in an international competition.), competition for Dutch animation (jury award, audience award; open only for Dutch productions: shorts, student films, TV films and commissioned films). HAFF also presents thematic programmes and retrospectives, talkshows, masterclasses, debates and an educational programme.
