Ekaterina Shapiro-Obermair was born 1980 in Moscow and emigrated to Germany in 1998. Studies 1999–2009 at the Academy of Fine Arts in Nuremberg, at the University of Applied Arts Vienna and at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna and at the. Since 2004 she lives in Vienna and works with video among other art forms.
Shapiro-Obermair has presented her works in a number of local and international exhibitions in art galleries and museums, including Jewish Museum Vienna, Ani Molnár Gallery in Budapest, Ludwig Múzeum Budapest, Moscow Museum of Modern Art, Croatian Association of Visual Artists (HDLU) in Zagreb, kunstbunker – forum für zeitgenössische kunst in Nuremberg, Novosibirsk State Art Museum, Taxispalais Kunsthalle Tirol in Innsbruck and Secession in Vienna.
