VANJA JURANIĆ is independent filmmaker, Zagreb-born, Berlin-based. As a non-formally trained filmmaker, she honed skills as a participant in Berlinale and Sarajevo Talent Campus, John Truby TV Drama Seminar, Paul Haggis Directing the Actors Workshop, Robert McKee Story Seminar, and Robert McKee Love Genre Seminar. Vanja’s first short ON THE SQUARE premiered at the Berlinale 2008 and was screened at various international film festivals from South to North America and Europe. Her second feature-length fiction film, ONLY WHEN I LAUGH premiered in 2023 at Croatian National Festival – Pula Film Festival, where it won the Golden Arena for Best Actress and an award of the Croatian Independent Cinema Network. The film was ranked as one of the most-watched Croatian films in 2023.
