Sergii Bazhenov received his degree in Film Directing from Moscow’s All-Russian State Institute of Cinematography (VGIK) and returned to Kyiv when Russia first attacked Ukraine. Sergii has directed four short films, which have participated in and won awards at over 40 international film festivals. He has also worked as a first assistant director on feature productions and contributed screenplays for more than 50 episodes across five TV series. His feature screenplays have received eight Ukrainian screenwriting awards. His latest directing works include the experimental films “Safeword” and “Ship. Bridge. Body.” (both 2023, in collaboration with Schaubühne Lindenfels theater in Leipzig, Germany) and “Girl in the Dark” (2023, 21 selections and awards).
