Vlad Dragne is a Romanian film director and cinematographer who specialises in challenging, allegorical films that eschew traditional narrative structures. He had his breakthrough at 16, winning second place in an international film competition and since then has made over 20 short films, which have won awards at various festivals. His work blends mythical roots with a calculated aesthetic approach that encompasses practices from fine art, new media, and experimental photography, slow cinema, and the Romanian New Wave. Recently, he has shifted towards video art and documentaries on social and environmental issues.
