With ‘Armadillo’ (2010) director Janus Metz (born 1974) stepped firmly into the international limelight winning the Grand Prix of the acclaimed critics programme, Semaine de la Critique at the Cannes Film Festival. His film about a group of Danish soldiers at the frontline in Afghanistan spurred heated debate, not only about the war but also about the boundaries between fiction and documentary filmmaking. It was sold to theatrical and broadcast distribution across the world and went on to win a number of awards.
