Director, Zsófia SZILÁGYI graduated at the University of Theatre and Film Arts of Budapest in 2007. During her studies she spent one semester at Mediopolis Film- und Fernsehproduktion GmbH, Berlin in 2006. In the same year she took part in an audiovisual project ”Heimat, Europa?” organized by Kolleg für Menagement und Gestaltung nachaltiger Entwicklung GmbH. Her short fictions "Never, in no circumstances wait for a call!" (2006) and "Somewhere neutral" (2006) were in competition at the 38th Hungarian Film Week, while "Step test" (28’ short fiction, 2009) won the Special Prize of Jury at the 24th Brest International Short Film Festival.In 2007 she directed the third part of a documentary series entitled "The siege of Budapest" (made for Duna Television, Hungary). "In Captivity", "Brothers", "Bones-cage" and "Eleven Vests" (a four part documentary-series) participated at the 58th National Independent Film Festival in 2011 where "Captivity" won the Special Prize of Jury.Her recently finished "Impasse" (50' documentary, 2013) was supported by the European Integration Fund of the European Union. She is currently working on "Gingerbread" a 25 minutes documentary demonstrating the work of Kerekasztal Theatre in Education Company.
