Ilze Gailite Holmberg was born and lives in Riga, Latvia. She graduated from University of Latvia, BA of Humanitarian Sciences. Later she studied Media and Communications at Stradina University of Riga. She attended many and various professional courses – studies of Arts at the Academy of Arts of Latvia; an array of international courses in film business and production, including documentary film and animation; cross-media development and coaching seminars, etc. In mid- nineties she was a co-founder and co-owner of animation studios, producer. From 1999 to 2004 she had worked at Baltic Media Centre (BMC) in Denmark, being Coordinator of various international projects. She was part of the team who established a TELE SEE network of public broadcasters (12 TV stations), with whom she co-ordinated more than 50 TV shows. She also worked on generating several media or fundraising projects. Since 2004 to present she has been a director of National Film Centre of Latvia (NFC), Expert at Baltic Sea Forum for Documentaries or a NFC expert at Riga Film Fund.
