Mila Turajlić, born in Belgrade, Yugoslavia, is an award-winning filmmaker and artist-researcher whose documentary practice explores the entanglement of intimate memory and political history through archival fragments and oral histories. Her films include Cinema Komunisto, IDFA-winning The Other Side of Everything, and the documentary diptych Non-Aligned & Ciné-Guerrillas: Scenes from the Labudović Reels. Her long-term research project Non-Aligned Newsreels has generated films, installations, workshops, shown at international exhibitions and biennials (Berlin 2022, Belgrade 2022, Sharjah 2025). Her live documentary performance is a production of the Théâtre National de Bretagne (a French national theatre) and is touring in 2026–27. She is a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and a Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres.
