Judith Benedikt, born 1977 in Lienz, Austria, studied history of art and journalism and also image and cinematography at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna. Since 2003 Benedikt has been working as a freelance cinematographer and also been teaching at the Photography School in Vienna. She was the director of photography on several award-winning film productions, amongst others HANA, DUL, SED… (2009, doc) by Brigitte Weich, which won the prize for best documentary at Diagonale in 2010. CHINA REVERSE (2014, doc) is Judith Benedikt's first documentary as a director.
