Ciro Cappellari has been active as a film director, cinematographer and screenwriter since 1989. His most prominent work includes Sin Querer -Time of the Flamingos (Sundance Cinema 100 Award, among others) and Hijo del Río - Son of the River (Best Film at the Festival Latino di Trieste, Italy). For his documentary about the musician Abdullah Ibrahim, A Struggle for Love, Cappellari received the Grimme Award 2005, for screenplay, direction and cinematography.
