François Lunel is a filmmaker. He was born in Paris, but now lives between Sarajevo in Bosnia, and France. In 1992, aged 20, he moved to besieged Sarajevo, where he stayed for two years.
He made the documentaries Born in Bosnia (1993), Les coulisses de Sarajevo (1996).
Aged 25, he produced his first fiction feature film, Jours tranquilles à Sarajevo. The film is a true hymn to the Bosnian cultural resistance and was presented to the Cannes Film Festival in 2002.
In 2009 he brought out the documentaries Fleurs dans le miroir, lune dans l'eau, then two years later the fiction feature film L'Apparition de la Joconde. He also directed a feature documentary; Chez Léon Coiffure. He just finished his third fiction feature film in Sarajevo : Those dark nights. Angel's flight is his 20th film.
