Was born in Polesye, Belarus.Graduated from Belarusian State University in Minsk (Journalism Department) and High two-year school of script-writes and directors in Moscow. (Supervisor in direction – Russian director Andrew Tarkowsky)Worked as a director in documentary and fiction filmmaking, cameraman, script writer, journalist and photographer. Was working at Belarusfilm studio. Shot about one hundred documentaries and two fiction films.Got prizes at International film festivals. Worked as a professor of Belarusian Academy of Arts, supervisor of a documentary workshop (1989-1994). After Lukashenko’s coming to power was deprived the right to teach in Academy of Arts and to work on Belarusfilm studio.For the years of Lukashenko’s governing (1995-2010) shot a documentary serial “Belarusian Decameron” – 10 feature length films, in which today’s power is represented as an evil phenomenon inherited by Belarus from the Soviet Union.
