Zoran Maslic worked as an award-winning television director for national broadcasting corporation in Yugoslavia where he directed shows for children, documentary and rock music shows as well as documentary films. In 1996, he moved to Canada where he made In the City of Exile Kings, a feature-length documentary trilogy that observes characters who are restless in their search for their place under the sun. When You Die as a Cat (2009) won 2010 Bogota Film Festival as the best social documentary and received some other awards and honors. Annoying (2015) turned into semi-cult a folk punk duo from the streets of Toronto. He also writes science fiction, produces music and writes books in the field of historical linguistics.
