Lisa Marie Stojčev was born in 1989 in West Germany to a German mother and a Bulgarian father and studied drama at Hanover University of Music, Drama and Media. She works as theatre- and filmmaker and actress. In her own artistic work as an author and director, she is interested in poetic-associative documentary filmmaking and feminist utopian spaces. In 2021 she realised the autofictional theatrefilm “The DJ is my father” (shown at independent theatres in Germany, selected for Theatrefilm Festival of Ballhaus Ost, Berlin). She continues her artistic engagement with her Bulgarian family history in her essayistic documentary feature film debut “This was 1965,” which premiered at Sofia International Film Festival in 2025.
