Born in Tehran, Iran in 1983, Sahand's family moved to Germany in 1993. He studied film sciences, trained as a 1. AD in Berlin and directed various short films. Before setting up his own film production company Serious Directions GmbH, together with partner Heleen Gerritsen, Sahand worked in online marketing and for several human rights' NGO's.
