Dan Priban has been engaged in films since the beginning of the 90th. He started with amateur films than he started to make documentaries. He had been organizing the film festival of amateur and art-house movies called The Dream Land (Vysnena zem) since 2002 until 2008. In 2003 he was a co-founder of CSO Underfilm that unites Czech and Slovac amateur and art-house film makers and develops their work. He has been cooperating with the Czech Television (namely travelogue magazine called Objektiv – Objective) since 2007. He specializes in travelogue documentaries with motor subject. Dan Priban is a proud owner of several awards for his movies and documentaries.
Traveler and director who drove his yellow Trabant across the Silk Road in 2007 and crossed Africa from north to south two years later. The following films were made during these trips: Trabant on the Silk Road received the Grand Prix at the Worldfilm Festival and Second Prize at the International Festival of Outdoor Films; Trabant Goes to Africa earned two main awards at the International Festival of Outdoor Films, the Grand Prix at the Unknown Country FF and several other awards. The film became the highest rated documentary film of 2011, and the highest rated Czech film since 2003 in the Czech-Slovak Film Database (www.csfd.cz).
