Marek Kuboš (1970, Trstená, Slovakia) rst studied at the Academy of Transport and Tel- ecommunications in Žilina, later transferring to Bratislava’s Academy of Performing Arts, where he became a part of the in uential 1990s generation of Slovak documentarians, including Jaroslav Vojtek, Peter Kerekes, Rob- ert Kirchho , Juraj Lehotský and Marko Škop. He began his career with the internationally acclaimed A Photographer’s Journey (Cesta fotografa, 1995), Žel. st. 2. tr. Kraľovany (1998), Hlas 98 (1999) and Taká malá propaganda (2001). Highly varied in subject matter, Kuboš’s lms focus on strong yet unusual in- dividuals and political engagement in Slovak society, frequently coloured by his signature detached sense of humour.
