Born in 1971 in Rostov-on-Don. Rastorguev studied at the Philosophy Department of Rostov State University and graduated from St. Petersburg State Theatre Arts Academy. Rastorguev’s films were entered into various international film festivals. Awards: MDR-Film-Preis and Ecumenical Jury Prize at Leipzig IFF 2002, Grand Prix at Cinema de Reel IFF (Clean Thursday), the Special Jury Award at the Amsterdam IFF (Tender’s Heat. Wild Wild Beach), Gran Prix at the Russia Documentary Festival and LAVR Russian National Award in Documentary (Mommies). In 2012 and 2012 Rastorguev shot the films I Love You (premiered at IFF Rotterdam) and I Don’t Love You (premiered at the Warsaw IFF) together with Pavel Kostomarov.
