Marta Smerechynska is a Ukrainian documentary filmmaker. She holds a Bachelor's degree from I.K. Karpenko - Kary University in Kyiv and was a participant in the documentary directing program at L’Université d’été at La Femis in Paris. Her work, including "Diary of a Bride of Christ" and "One Aloe, One Ficus, One Avocado, and Six Dracaenas," has received critical acclaim and numerous nominations at international film festivals. Currently, she is pursuing a DOC NOMADS Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Degree delivered by a consortium of three universities in Portugal, Hungary and Belgium and working on a film which portrays her grandmother's forced labor migration to Italy amidst Ukraine's economic crisis in the 1990s.
