Lia Perjovschi is a prominent Romanian audiovisual and performance artist based in Sibiu, Romania. In her artistic practice spanning nearly four decades, she has been creating situations and developing strategies to confront a radically changing world. Perjovschi initially engaged in intimate experiments, employing her body as a medium to confront social and political repression. Post-1989, she shifted her focus towards recording, structuring, and archiving information, creating projects like the Contemporary Art Archive and the Knowledge Museum, which explore alternative knowledge organization. Perjovschi describes her artistic evolution as a “journey from the physical body to the universal body of knowledge.”
