Jan Šimánek graduated from FAMU, Department of Photography. He participated on internationally succesfull art projects(Banksy' Dismaland 2015, Szpylman Award 2012).He focuses on films about rock climbers and is regularly awarded at International Mountaineering film festivals - lastly Audience Award at the International Mountaineering Film Festival in Teplice nad Metují 2018 for his last short film "From a Hammer to a Drill", which also was awarded on film festivals in Krakow(Special mention of the Jury) and Poprad(Best Portrait).
