Marco Gastine was born in Paris in 1952. Since 1978 he lives and works in Athens. After a brief career as an architect, he took up filmmaking as a director, screenwriter and producer. He directed about 20 documentaries or short films. His work has mostly focused on cities and their people, as in “ATHENS, IN SEARCH OF THE LOST CITY” (1993, documentary about Athens through Greek cinema) or in “MARSEILLES, A GREEK PROFILE” (2004, documentary about Greek immigrants in Marseilles; Best Documentary Award at Thessaloniki Festival 2004; nominated at Prix Europa 2004). He has recently achieved for the Hellenic Broadcasting Corp. (ERT) “LITTLE ODYSSEYS”, a 10 episodes documentary series confronting life stories of foreign immigrants in Greece and Greek immigrants abroad.
