Leylakhanim (Leyla) Ganbarli is a multi-disciplinary artist with a passion for filmmaking and visual arts. Leyla's artistic journey began with a strong foundation in piano, which she honed through dedicated study. She later pursued film university programs in Azerbaijan and Turkey.
Leyla's short documentaries have reached international audiences through prestigious festivals such as Cinedoc Tbilisi, Jihlava International Documentary Film Festival, and Iawart Asian Women's Film Festival. Her first short documentary, "A Butcher's Daughter" (2021), received a Special Jury Mention at the DokuBaku International Documentary Film Festival.
In addition to her accomplishments in filmmaking, Leyla showcases her creativity through various visual mediums, including painting, drawing, and collage-making. In 2023, Leyla's artworks were exhibited for the first time at a group exhibition called "SAFEZONE," featuring young artists, held at the "Artym" project space in Baku.
