Stefan Capaliku was born in Shkoder in 1965. He graduated in Albanian language and literature at the university of Tirana, complemented by further studies in Italy and the former Czechoslovakia. In 1988, he graduated as a B.A., and in 1995 completed his PhD. After that he attained qualifications in theatre management and publishing. Since 1993 he has been head of the literature department at the Shkoder University. Since 1998 he has been responsible for the entire field of books in the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport in Albania, and teaches at the Academy of Fine Arts in Tirana. In 1993 Stefan Çapaliku’s first book of poetry was published. Apart from essays and monographs on Albanian literature he has produced other works of prose including the collection ”Short stories for Anna”, published in Tirana (2002), and its translation into Polish, published in Warsaw. Since 1995 Çapaliku has written twenty plays, directed some of them and some documentary films.
