Born in 1954 in Tallinn. 1970 – 1973 studied in Tallinn Marine College. Graduated as a marine engineer. 1976 – 1980 Studied and graduated from Tallinn Music College. 1980 - 1984 Assistant of the director of music and art department of Estonian national TV (ETV).
1980 – 1986 Studied and graduated from Estonian Music Academy. 1987 – 1989 Studies in journalism in Tartu University. 1984 –1996 Director of music and art department of ETV. During those years several TV series and programs were made of Estonian art and music.
Has taken part as a director in several co-productions with German ZDF, Russian Central TV and YLE. 2004 – 2006 and 2008 – present, chairman of the board of Estonian Filmmakers’ Union.
