Anca Hirte was born in Piatra Neamt, Romania in 1967. She studied chemistry and began her career as acurator and conservationist at the Romanian Peasant Museum. She made her directorial debut in 1995 with 'Dali si Dali'. Her last feature film 'Téodora Pécheresse' received the price of the best film at the festival "Astra Film" in Romania and was named at GOPO (Romanian Césars).
